Sock death

So, I had just started on a lovely sock with some knitpicks felici self striping yarn. I left it on the bed and forgot to put it up, away from the puppy.

You can see where this is going.

Liam hollered to me later that day that Moxie was under the bed "WITH YOUR YARN!!!" Sure enough, she'd stolen the ball, tangled it beyond all salvageablity and, well, bye bye sock.

As I was trying to untangle it, I was thinking that it didn't seem like 200 yards of yarn. And then, yesterday evening, I found more of my poor sock yarn in the front yard. I don't know when she brought it out there. (That's one of her favorite places to bring pilfered items from the household, though.)

Rest in peace, little sock. I loved you for the ten rows we were together.

Done!

I'm so thrilled. I sewed the pocket on the sweater tonight and weaved in all the ends. Success! It fits Quinn, and he really likes it. I'm so happy to have made a cute sweater for him that he wants to wear. Now I just need to find a good pattern for a sweater for Liam, because this pattern only goes to size 4/5. Here's my littlest, modeling the sweater just a little while ago.

Now, on to some socks!

Progress Report

Finished the bodice yesterday and started on one of the arms. I meant to snap a pic last night but forgot--will put one up later.

My husband thinks it looks girly. Pshaw.

The best part is that I tried it on its intended owner and it appears to fit great. So my fears that it is too small are laid to rest. Phew.

Orientation

Welcome! The internet has, to offer you (are you sitting down?), Yet Another Knitting Blog.

I know, right? Talk about adding to an overwhelmingly filled niche.

And, man. Let me tell you that trying to name this flipping blog was ridiculous. Every single idea I had was obviously not all that original, since the name was undoubtedly taken. (So sad that procrastiknitter was not available. Sniff, sniff.) So I settled on what you see above: The Slightly Witty Knitter.

Am I witty? Maybe slightly. Maybe not at all. But heck, I am a knitter, and witty just sounds so good with knitter, so true or not, I snatched that sucker right up.

Onwards and upwards!

Here is the project that's currently on my needles (well, there are others on needles too, but I don't feel like working on them so I am not thinking about them. La la la la, fingers in ears, la la).

What we have here: Sugar Bubbie's Sleuthing Hoodie on size 7 needles, using Mosaic Moon's Cestari fine yarn in the Dragon Moon colorway. I am making size 4/5 for my younger son, which is currently the largest size the pattern offers. If it turns out well, and is completed by July, I would love to make one for my older son, too. So, here's hoping size 7/8 is available soon.

The yarn is beautiful, and very durable. The colorway is just gorgeous.

Pics to come after I've made more progress. Thanks for stopping by!
